Policy Makers, India: Lieutenant General Harbaksh Singh (1913-1999)

This legendery Indian general was not only a man of courage - wounded in WW II in Malaya - and a daring commander in the 1940s against Pakistan-backed forces, but also a man of honor.

After the 1965 war between India and Pakistan, when India was returning Pakistani territory, Lt Gen Harbaksh Sing ordered all mosques that had been damaged in shelling to be repaired and repainted.

Prayers were offered before they were handed back with full dignity.
